Morgan Wallen’s Abrupt SNL Leave
My favorite thing to talk about on Monday’s is my SNL report. This past Saturday, Oscar winner Mikey Madison hosted SNL with musical guest Morgan Wallen. However, today I won’t be doing a sketch recap- today we’ll look at why Morgan Wallen leaving as soon as the episode is over is drawing such a strong reaction from fans. If you don’t know, when an episode of SNL ends, the cast and crew typically celebrate onstage as the credits roll, congratulating each other and saying their goodbye’s for the night to all that are involved. Instead of mingling, Wallen left the stage nearly immediately, as shared by a clip SNL posted on social media platform X. Wallen has a history of controversy, one including SNL where he was pulled as a musical guest in 2020 for breaking COVID protocol, and most recently in December 2024, when he pleaded guilty to two charges of reckless endangerment. NBC News states, “Across social media, fans and SNL viewers shared their unfiltered reaction to the moment.“Morgan Wallen barely acknowledges Mikey Madison and then immediately storms off stage like a baby during the SNL goodbyes. Woof.” one tweet on the social media site X read.”
Lucy Dacus Forever is a Feeling Review
In music news, songwriter and Boygenius alum Lucy Dacus released her fourth LP titled Forever is a Feeling last Friday, March 28. She told The New Yorker that it follows themes of falling for her bandmate Julien Baker, who she is now in a committed relationship with. American music magazine Pitchfork has rating the album a 6.1/10, stating, “Marking her move from Matador to a major label, Forever Is a Feeling is Dacus’ sweetest and most sentimental-sounding album, all but extinguishing the bonfire crackle of her previous records. Love, naturally, is the fuzziest feeling, and even long-term singletons and serial monogamists aren’t immune to the charms of truly moon-eyed music: Listening should feel like having a surrogate crush. But the passion and obsession of Dacus’ lyrics are rarely mirrored in these benign mid-tempo devotionals.” Even users on Reddit are saying that there is less passion, build, and swelling that Dacus is known for. But alas, maybe her love is different than ours; and we should celebrate love and art nonetheless.

Trump floats possibility of third term
Yesterday, President Donald Trump said that he’s “not joking” about the possibility of running for a third term in office, something that is explicitly illegal under the 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, which states “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” Trump said, “There are methods which you could do it. I have had more people ask me to have a third term, which in a way is a fourth term because the other election, the 2020 election, was totally rigged.” NBC News’s Kristen Welker asked Trump if one way to serve a third term was to have Vice President JD Vance elected and have him “pass the baton” to Trump. “Well, that’s one. But there are others too. There are others.” When asked if he could elaborate on other avenues to do this, Trump said, “No.” It is important to note that a president who has already been elected to two terms is not eligible to be elected to the office of vice president, either. Derek Muller, a professor of election law at Notre Dame, suggested that Trump is saying this as a show of force. He said, “A lame-duck president like Donald Trump has every incentive in the world to make it seem like he’s not a lame duck.” According to AP News, “Trump suggested that Americans would go along with a third term because of his popularity.” Trump also has claimed that he has “the highest poll numbers of any Republican for the last 100 years,” despite his poll numbers maxing out at 47% approval for his second term. George W. Bush, for comparison, garnered a 90% approval rating immediately after 9/11.
Trump promises “Liberation Day” of tariffs
This upcoming Wednesday, a day that President Trump has called Liberation Day, he “has vowed to pull the trigger and impose an historic barrage of tariffs on goods from overseas he claims will fund an extraordinary revival,” according to The Guardian. AP News writes that, “He wants to announce import taxes, including “reciprocal” tariffs that would match the rates charged by other countries and account for other subsidies. Trump has talked about taxing the European Union, South Korea, Brazil and India, among other countries.” Trump said, “This is the beginning of Liberation Day in America. We’re going to charge countries for doing business in our country and taking our jobs, taking our wealth, taking a lot of things that they’ve been taking over the years. They’ve taken so much out of our country, friend and foe. And, frankly, friend has been oftentimes much worse than foe.”
Trump threatens to bomb Iran
During the same phone call with Welker yesterday, Trump threatened to bomb Iran if “the country does not come to an agreement with his administration about its nuclear program,” according to Politico. “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” he said yesterday. “There’s a chance that if they don’t make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago that brought them to a position that they very much wanted to be.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said yesterday that Iran rejected direct negotiations with the US in response to a letter from Trump. Pezeshkian said, “Although the possibility of direct negotiations between the two sides has been rejected in this response, it has been emphasized that the path for indirect negotiations remains open.” Earlier in March, Trump previously threatened Iran with strikes over the country’s support of Yemen’s Houthi rebels, saying that attacks from the group will be treated as if they’re coming from Iran.
